  • Necessities of the Physical Environment
  • Patient Care as the End Goal

About the Panelists:

Jay Deville is the Administrative Director of Facilities for Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas and oversees a 505 bed hospital in Beaumont, Texas and a 94 bed hospital in Orange, Texas. He was awarded employee of the year in 2008 for his leadership during and post Hurricane IKE. Jay currently serves as the President of the Houston Area Association of Healthcare Engineers providing low cost quality education to facility managers in the Houston area. Jay has served two previous years with HAAHE as the Education Director and then as the President Elect.

Jay has a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and taught sixth and seventh grade science for three years. Jay has served a four year electrical apprenticeship with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and now holds his Master Electrical License with the State of Texas.

Jay is married to his wife of twenty years and together they have eight children whom they home school and will have their first graduate this year. His graduating son will be attending the Engineering program at Lamar University and has received a four year scholarship. Jay supports his wife and children in soccer, many 4H activities and piano. He and his family attend Westgate Memorial Baptist Church.

Deborah Marciniak has been an RN Infection Control Practitioner for 21 years and her certification in Infection Control was obtained in 2001. Over the past 10 years, she has been a "Partner in Caring" at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas in Beaumont, Texas. Deborah attained her BS in Nursing from Lamar University in Beaumont in 1986 and recently attained a Master in Health Administration and Health Informatics. She served on the Board level of the Houston APIC (Association of Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology) chapter for three years. Her abstract entitled “Implementation of a Waterless Hand Sanitizer Program in ICU and SNF to Reduce Incidence of Nosocomial Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus“ was accepted and presented as a poster at the 2003 National APIC Conference in San Antonio.

Her interest in faith community nursing was satisfied with successful completion of a parish nursing course offered through Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas almost two years ago. In collaboration with those who are “called to be community”, she was instrumental in establishing the foundation for a very active health ministry within her faith community.

Lisa Torok is an RN with 26 years experience ranging from staff nurse to Quality Director. She spent the first 17 years of her career in Labor and Delivery and progressed through the ranks to Director of Women’s Services. One of her accomplishments during that time was successful implementation of an electronic documentation system. This experience was an initiation in process management, process improvement and regulatory compliance. In 2002 Lisa was invited to join the IASIS team as Regional Project Manager for Clinical Systems Implementation. After three years honing her skills in managing project teams, she moved to Baptist Hospital Beaumont to direct Process Improvement and Accreditation activities.
